Hello my lovely campaign friends & Happy Easter if you are celebrating!

A lot has happened since the last update and what an exciting little journey it has been already! Since we spoke last, the band completed all preparation for the studio and jumped right into 3 full days of recording at Media Blitz Studio’s in Williamsburg (Brooklyn, NYC) on March 22, 23 & 24, 2012. AND WHAT A COOL STUDIO IT WAS!

Co-owners and engineer’s Robin Macmillan and Jacob Silver have created what to me seemed like a little treehouse in their artist space apartment. It has an isolated room for the drums and bass, (where Bill & Bob hung out), an isolated room for the mixing console and engineer (where Robin & Jacob hung out), and then Ryan (guitar), Frank (keys) and I were scattered in the living room! What made it work is that the guitar, bass, and keyboard amps were mic’d up and spread out throughout the house, covered in blankets, dooners and cushions so that we all sounded as though we were in isolated rooms and so there was no bleed into any of the mics. Creative boys they are!

It was so much fun spending 3 days putting down 10 tracks and listening back to how the tunes were progressing from take to take. Sometimes we would do 3 takes of a song, think we were done, then someone would put up their hand and raise a suggestion that we try the tune a completely different way. We would then take a minute to think about how we would go about doing that and if it would in fact benefit the tune and the album as a whole. As a result, we came out of the studio with a number of different approaches to each track, which is very interesting to listen back to and also helped to keep the tunes fresh. As many people would have experienced themselves, after the 3rd, 4th or 5th take of the same tune, the song can sometimes get a little bit stale and lose some ‘vibe’. It was so great to have all the guys contribute in this way and speak out when they felt something wasn’t working.. I think this is when the real music happens!

My generous friend and talented camera man Shane Gerarghty has put together a little compilation of some behind the scenes footage from the last day in the studio and I have taken it and spruced it up for your viewing pleasure :) Shane has been a huge part of putting this campaign together, so I cannot thank him enough for the time and effort he has poured into this project ... it’s really amazing actually! THANK YOU SHANE :)

This BEHIND THE SCENES FOOTAGE features a song titled 'Owls Perched in the Night' and is about my very wise grandparents, who I like to think of as wise owls :) This footage can be found both on the campaign website and by following this link: http://vimeo.com/39909614

With 26 days to go, I have been overwhelmed by the support from you generous and adorable people! There are no words really to explain how grateful I am for the time you have taken to watch the video’s, read updates, and show you support through contributing! It sounds cliche, but I honestly could not pursue my love for music and composition without you. Thank you!

But.. with 26 days to go, we have passed the half way mark and still have a fair way to go to raise the funds needed to complete the final stages of the project!

These final stages include....
1. Overdubs with Frank Locrasto at his studio in Montrose, Brooklyn. We  will also be recording a duo tune that will make the 11th and final track of the album. That last song is called ‘A Vision of You’ and is actually the first song I wrote for this record!
2. Overdubs with Ryan Scott at his home studio in Brooklyn, adding some funky guitar parts over the top of out basic tracks from the studio.
3. Vocal overdubs back at MEDIA BLITZ STUDIO’s April 15th - 16th.
4. Mixing with Pete Rendy from May 7 - May 11. Pete is an amazing engineer, musician and knows how to make things sound delicious, so I am super excited he will be mixing the record!
5. Mastering with Nate Wood from May 16 - 18 .. just before I hop on out of the country on May 20th! This is exhilarating, petrifying and exciting all at the same time! Why do it any other way?

These last couple of stages are really important to how the end product is going to turn out! So, together, lets make it to this finished product with a bang!

WE ARE CURRENTLY ON $3,019 WITH A GOAL OF $20,000WHICH IS WHAT THE ENTIRE PROJECT COSTS!

We are hoping to reach this goal in the next 26 days, but we need your help!

If you would like to show your support, contribute and be a part of this process, please visit us at our Indiegogo Campaign Websitehttp://www.indiegogo.com/Briana-Cowlishaw-A-new-album-a-new-sonic-landscape?a=241518I am very excited that at the end of this project, we will be able to share the feeling that we made this piece of art together! I personally think that is very cool!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your time, energy, love and support and I hope you have a fun and relaxing Easter long weekend! Enjoy life, smile a lot, and I am sending all my love to you from the big NYC!

Bri xx
